Outta Here

I thought you were flying yesterday or is it today??? ... Have a great vacation. Keep us posted. Curt in MD Thanks for the good wishes! I'm leaving work in about 4 hours, then we batten down the house hatches and head on out to the Land of the Keij's! I'm not taking my laptop with me, so I'll be dr...

dan reported that the estimate was in the 2K range..is that the final cost of a Torqueflite rebuild? $2003.12, total. Right on the button. BTW, you should have seen the old seals, Roger. They were as brittle as bones. It's a wonder the transmission shifted at all! It was expensive, but I'm glad it'...

Faulkner's fixed -- kinda

Well, the transmission shifts like a dream! And, the car runs well... Except, at a light. I had to keep my foot on the gas and the brake at the same time to keep it from stalling on the trip back to the garage; I hated having to do that. I know I have a problem with the carburator acceleration pump ...

Update from Bill Carr

I bought my 59 with a thought to entering it in the local drag racing circuit. Within two weeks after I bought the car (and not putting it on the drag strip yet) I met the girl of my dreams who later became my bride. And that was the end of my racing dreams. We drove my beauty (wife) in my beauty (...

Stefan, I have one -- NOS! I've decided not to put the pair on, because after I put lubricant on my originals, they seem to be working very well. I'd be happy to help you out if you buy the pair for what I paid (have to look that up).

"A 59 Sport Fury I had 1959-1963"

Just tonight I received this email from Willie Carr: Hi Dan: We spoke via email some time ago. For your interest I'm including a picture of the one that got away. It was my first new car. And what a car it was! Of course it had the 361 with torqueflite and no power options so that it would be faster...

I see my idea for this thread was a "bust". I am sorry if I broke some sort of posting rule or perhaps was being too nosey. Not at all, Curt! I thought we'd get a lot more responses too. But it's been kinda sleepy here in the forum, y'know? (*yawn*) I guess folks are ju... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Life on hold

Well, Faulkner's sitting in a transmission shop, no longer awaiting parts (I hope). With any luck, I'll get him back this week... ...and my building permit is sitting in Licenses and Inspections, along with the garage plans, awaiting approval. 4-5 weeks before I hear... (*sigh*). I guess my "ca...

and some old posts with attachments are showing the whole image, instead of the icon. There's other funny business too... OK, so this isn't fixed yet. But I'm the world's slowest webmaster, doncha forget! Stay tuned... Fixed! over 300 attachments, all fixed -- I think. If you find any monkey busine...

Re: Off to the transmission shop...

The guy had a heckuva time locating parts, Fatsco has neither part. He did track down a pump in Washington state! Still no sign of the parts; maybe Thursday, I'm told. Faulkner should be available next week. He better! I need to get him safely ensconced back in his garage, before we head off to the...

"wavy lines" in pictures

Curt asked me a question privately, but it's such an important question I think I should answer it in the forum: Why did my jpeg pictures look so bad on-line. Is there some other way to upload and get rid of the waves??? When you upload the picture, the forum stores two images -- one that's "ic...
