You are right about Denver, I can picture John Q. staked out next to the highway waiting to ambush the truck. Check http://www.cars-on-line.com there is a very nice suburban there at a (I think) reasonable price.

Darn Right I am setting up a Blockade that will have I-90, I-80, I-70 and I-40 will have numerous check points to navigate around. Opreration "Convert Block" is in full gear!!

Naw, I am happy for you Dick! There will be others to snag for me later on. I have an eye on a 58 Plymouth Convert about an hour from me that I will pursue. But will be on the lookout for more 59 converts (SF or Belvy)in the years to come. But if that 60 De Soto is in the way..... :P

OK, here we go. It was loaded on the truck yesterday and Margie, my new friend took some great pictures for me. John Q., the charmer, has her looking for a convt. for him. A lot of the "stuff" in the pictures I have better in my stash. Overall the body except for the drivers floor looks to be in better shape than the Red & White SF I'm restoring now. But getting it up on the lift will tell the true story. So sit back and send me your observations and suggestions, believe me they are quite welcome. One good thing the truck is from florida, hope the drivers in a hurry to get home.
So what chall tink,
Dick.

Looks like a really good starting point, Dick!!

I see a '57-'58 deluxe horn ring and cap, if you don't have a need for it, I'll buy it from you.

Alright!
Pic 1) shows one, maybe two toplift housings...>good news!
4) shows one hood spring, but no worries, Dick has a parts car.
5) shows ONE sunvisor arm...these are cvt-only, hope you find the other one!
8) I see not ALL the wiring has been removed
9) Hooray, I see rear seat springs, so where are the front split bench seats? (got a set in the parts car, Dick?)
10) Obvious rust on drivers floor, expect the same on passenger floor (may need to get w/ Big M or Freman's, or the guy making NEW replacement floors).

Be hopeful that the rockers, trunk wells and trunk floor dodged serious rust, which I think is possible for a cvt, as long as it sits up off the ground and just gets rain or snow...no leaves or pine needles or mouse houses....
Would you agree about this last comment, John Q?, .. your cvt sat out on the range for xxxx years.

Matthew - If you have a spare I could use it.

John - Let me check everything out, maybe we can trade something.

Roger: My parts car is a 4 dr. only seats left are rear. Front seats from a 2 dr sedan should work??????????

Dick,
I think this car is messed up. In order to save you a lot of grief, I will grudgingly take it off your hands. Just re-direct the hauler to Seattle.
i would think front seats from a 4 dr sedan would fit, as long as they are split bench. If they are split, and the seatbacks don't tip forward, there MAY be a chunk of metal blocking the pivot, which is easily removed.

Margie seems like a very friendly, and helpful lady. She's gonna look for another one for JohnQ?? Cool! So the business will continue on.
Since the former owner is no longer with us, and the widow most likely is not in a mood to chat, do you think Margie could be charmed into telling us of the car's past history?

First, forget about the redirection, got it.
Second - When you vacation in Florida I'll let you drive it around, after I install the LOJACK.

I tried to get as much information from Margie as I could. All she knew was it was at this ladies house for a long time and she would not sell it. Margie said she passed one time and gave it a try and the ladiy sold it to her. Her boss was going to restore it for her but when she passed his wife decided to sell. I asked her if she could get any information from the lady but when she went there the house was empty and the ladie was gone. Too bad I couldn't get more information and history.

Dick,

We do have a spare grille logo for sure, I'll make pictures tomorrow and send them your way.

If you have a convertible you are going to need swivel seats, found these for you in Alabama for $1500 http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/2168452019.html the bad news is that you will have another parts car then.

Swivel seats in a cvt, not necessarily! Ask Tom Fox!
Swivel seats...... in a four-door sedan? I guess a swap could have occurred sometime in the past!
I'd ask for photos before committing to the deal. :?
Not too far from Atlanta! :D

Ron - I have the Gold Piece that fits on the screen in the middle of the grill. But not the screen.

Roger - I really don't want swivel seats, I have two cars with swivel seats and the only time I use them is for display at car shows. Besides they cost too much

Matthew - If those seats are from a 2 door sedan you can alway buy a larger suitcase. Yea right!!!
