59 Plymouth torqueflite shifter cable

Post by 53619PLF »

Hello,

I am still looking for a 59 Plymouth torqueflite shifter cable for my car that I am changing over from a powerflite transmission. Does anyone know of someone who might have this part ? I have all of the other parts, but the cable. Does anyone know if the powerflite cable can be modified to work, or what the real difference is ? The part number is different, but I don't know what is different. Is it the length, or what is attached on the end ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Tim, I do see these for sale all the time on Ebay, You can give John Fowlie (BigM on this Forum) an email or PM to see if he can dig one up for you from his cars he has in his yard.

There are some other vendors that due sell NORS versions in some of the Mopar Magaizines, I will try to look in Mopar Classified Guilde (MCG) for there number to call them.

Hi Tim,
I was not able to come up with any that were not binding or cut- Try Imperial Services, as i believe they can make you a cable that will function properly.

Thanks for the replies. I would appreciate any numbers or websites to get in touch with any of these places. I will look myself as well. I watch eBay pretty regularly, but I have not seen any cables the times I have looked on there.

Thanks for the information on that eBay listing. I had to check, but that was the right cable for the early transmission I am going to use. I know there was an early style and a late style cable. It shows both in my parts book. I purchased that cable, and its funny how that never came up in my search for 59 Plymouth on eBay.

Any other places for the U joints for the driveshaft ? I like to get good quality parts if I can, and even NOS if its not too crazy. I have all of the transmission parts now, but I think I will have to get a driveshaft because of the different length betwen powerflite and torqueflite.

Are these Gary Goers or Andy Bernbaum items, or somebody else ?

Thank for all of your help and information.
