Overdrive Issues
I am having problems signing up on the Forward Look, so will ask my question here for now.
I have a 55 Plymouth Belvedere V8 with overdrive. The overdrive works properly when engaging it, but when you try to disengage the overdrive, it will not. You must turn the engine off, let the car roll just a little, and then it will disengage. The solenoid has been replaced, but that did not correct the problem. What is actually in the transmission to make it disengage. I do not know how similar this is to a 59 overdrive, other than being a 6 volt system. I presently do not have any service manuals for this car. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
