turn signal lever

Hello everybody. Just got '59 NOS turn signal lever and knob.
It is not stripped, but it falls out! Using a flashlight, the inside
of the hole it fits into doesn't look stripped. Any suggestions? Is it ok
to use loctite here? The part that the indicator fits into
(beyond the round hole) of course moves and looks fragile
(parts book is not clear about how these pieces go together)
--I can use a longer 61 Dodge lever that I have no problem,
but I'd rather put the stock one in. The original lever was
stripped and bent. Thanks. Beth.

Without pulling it apart -- and, without really knowing how loose it is -- I'd try wrapping some teflon tape on the threaded end, Beth, and see if it holds. You can get it at any hardware store...

In case you're not aware, when using loctite be careful. Maybe start out with the "low strength". I used the high strength on a 1/2" nut one time and later had to actually heat it with a torch to remove it cause it was "locked tite"

Yeah, I figured that out about the loctite , thanks for the
warning! I read the label on my "red"-- its for high temp. stuff--
Got the teflon tape, this weekend will see what happens.

Dan, you may think you are not the best mechanic with your
oil pan problem, but you're LIGHT YEARS ahead of this
stubborn half-Polish/Russian novice ...
