Rick, I knew you were kidding me! You were the one who found me the intake from a 300E intake for me.. Life has been hectic for me...
Front carb still needs some adjustments as it wants to stall when the front carb kicks in.
Also had a fuel leak which is already fixed. Stupid gasket between the tank and sender wasn't in its place so i replaced it with a new gasket and ring from summit. The gaskets they have with the ring are so much better then the original ones.
But it was really good to drive! Especially with the top down
Had a blast going to Germany meeting Roland again and Sebastian stopped by without his car.
At the show we mounted Roland his bumper wings and had a great weekend.
Then on the way home the car started to surge. Stopped on the pull off lane on the highway.
Car ran fine again and I drove further for another 20 minutes, same issue again. After stopping 3 times the car completely died about 20 miles from home.
Car got towed home and I was pissed and done with it. Wanted to take a break for a week or 2 but couldn't resist.
I had the tank that came on the vert fixed as it was leaking, adjusted the fuel sender but all the filters were still clean. Mounted the tank back and filled it up again but the car still didn't fired up.
We decided to change the pump but didn't made a difference. Then we took the fuel pump push rod out, that was another story!!! It was 7mm shorter then it used to be so I put in the old push rod and the car fired right back up!
Wait, I had assumed from this thread, that the new pushrod was (incorrectly) shorter than the original. When I look at the shorter, new rod, it doesn't appear to be worn. Am I mistaken about that? Was it really as long as the old rod, and wore down?
It was really as long as the old one! I wasn't getting any fuel to the carb as the push rod runs on the camshaft and it runs the fuel pump. The cam didn't pushed it down on the pump so no fuel at all.
Rick, I really hope all of the debris is in the pan and filter. I don't want more damage
That also worried me but it seems to be fine now.
I assume the cam material is harder then the push rod. I don't wanna pull the cam now that I can finally drive it
Haven't really enjoyed my top cover yet. As some of you might know the top frame broke. Really happy that I have spares!
There was a small rip in the vinyl so I decided to put a new top on. Ordered it and it was deliver to mr Koch.
My parents picked it up and I started on it.
Still need to fix the 2 center bows.
A pic says more then 1000 words so here are a few pics!
