Re: 1959 Belvedere With a Surprise

Thanks for the kind words! I will do a short video this weekend. I will try to find a secluded place to do a drive by and maybe a little burn-out. Anything else you would like to see on the video (that won't get me arrested)?

Re: 1959 Belvedere With a Surprise

The 59 Plymouth project is now about 99% done! It will probably never be completed as I will always have some things I want to improve. I drove it for about 50 miles last Saturday and everything works well and the AC blows cold and it does not overheat! (It was 110 in Phoenix during my drive) I inst...

Re: Need Turn Signal Help!

Dick That is really great advice. I spent hours trying the same things over and over again, and then when I took a fresh look at it the next weekend, I saw right away that the shaft wasn't centered. It is hard to walk away from something that looks so simple, but hopefully next time I will remember ...

Re: Need Turn Signal Help!

Over the weekend I examined the column jacket and it was seated at the bottom by the steering box. I then re-examined everything and noticed the steering shaft seemed to be a little off-center to the left. by pulling hard on it I could wiggle it back an forth about 1/8 of an inch. So I pulled the co...

Re: Need Turn Signal Help!

Thanks Dick, those are some good ideas.
I had the steering column out and am wondering if I got the jacket seated properly on the steering box. I will try all of those ideas and see what happens...will let you know.

Need Turn Signal Help!

I drove my car today for the first time in over a year after a frame-off restoration and now the turn signal switch does not work properly. It worked fine before I took everything apart. When I move the lever for a right or left turn it engages solidly like it always did, and the lights flash proper...

Re: Cooling issues

Curt I did a lot of research on the fan and radiator issues when I was building my car for AZ. What I learned is that for maximum cooling you need to suck air through the entire radiator. The only way to do that is to have a shroud that covers the entire radiator and a fan that sucks air through the...

Re: 1959 Belvedere With a Surprise

I finished installing my "Painless" wiring harness and actually got the beast started again after about a 1 year lay-up. I have installed the big Gen IV Vintage Air system, got the dash and gauges installed, and re-installed the steering wheel and pedals. So far so good! Now just have to a...

Re: Sedan Window Channels and Door Weatherstrips

Thanks Dick, I have ordered the parts. It is great to be getting on the home stretch of the restoration and down to just the interior! PS: The license bracket cleaned up nicely! Thanks!

Sedan Window Channels and Door Weatherstrips

My 1959 Plymouth 2dr Sedan needs new door weatherstripping and new glass run channels for the doors and rear windows. I have been looking in Gary Goer's catalog, Andy Bernbaum's Oldmoparts web site, and Restoration Specialties web site. I have also searched on this web site and the Forward Look web ...

License Plate Bracket

Would anyone have a picture of the rear license plate bracket for a 59 Belvedere? I was going to try to fabricate one. Or better yet, a used one for sale? Thanks for your help!

Re: 1959 Belvedere With a Surprise

Still making progress slow but sure. Got the new wiring harness, Vintage Air (except for freon) and windshield installed. I hope to try to start it this weekend after its long slumber. I still need to do glass, doors, and complete interior, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. If I can get i...

Re: 1959 Belvedere With a Surprise

It did because I did all the welding replacing the trunk and parts of the floors and a few rust holes on the rear fenders. I also fitted and welded in all the bracket to mount my Vintage Air system, new wiper setup, Painless Wiring box, rear mounted battery, etc. I want everything to bolt right in j...

Got the body back from the painter. Now comes the fun part of putting it back together!
