Re: Powerfight noise in neutral and in gear

Before you flush, purchase a PLYMOUTH service manual, go to the transmission troubleshooting section and follow the suggested checks first. The Power-flite is a great transmission, And is easy to overhaul. There is a pressure regulator and flow control valve-body directly behind the front pump. bein...

Re: BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH

YES, FLUID WILL LEAK OUT. But not really a big deal, use shop towels to keep the DOT3 off the finish. be quick and you may not have to bleed the system. If some fluid did splash on your paint. Just wipe it down with a wet cloth. and also dry the area.

Re: strange and worrisome noise

The fan clutch should only make noise on fire up and during high temp. operation. highway speed should be able to force enough air through everything needing heat removal. the fan should be idling and almost silent.

Re: idler arm HELP!

The original Plymouth steering system idler arm used a rubber bushing. When these were replaced some of the replacements required a spacer washer. There is a roller bearing replacement, also requires spacer washers. There are lowering blocks but I advise against the use of them, being they reduce the...

Re: strange and worrisome noise

Just wondering... If you have a cooling fan clutch system? The factory installed these on A/C engines. Sometimes they make some really unusual noises when they are failing.

Re: Pinging

HAPPY FATHERS DAY! With the addition of a hand operated vacuum pump, you can test the vacuum pot. There are many good pumps for about $35. US. and I realize the silverline kit with all the accessories cost more. The simple plastic squeeze pump with gauge and line adapters is all you will need. with...

Re: Pinging

OK, Without being able to see how you have everything set up, a diagnosis would be lucky at best. I have not worked on a Plymouth L head for many years. I do have an antique Allen distributor machine that I still use regularly. Check your base timing with the vacuum advance disconnected. also the v...

Re: Pinging

Try disconnecting the vacuum advance line from the distributor pot, plug the line. test drive if the problem continues it could be a carbon problem. If the problem ceases you have a distributor or timing problem. An engine that is consuming a large amount of oil will also have a pinging problem. Let...

Re: 75 Duster Brake Booster

That's the ticket, just what the doctor ordered.Great picture! These were optional on all A Bodies... not just Dusters. there is also a side brace to help stabilize the whole thing that attaches at a right angle at the master cylinder bolts to the fender well.

Re: 75 Duster Brake Booster

Not a problem , being reinforced is a really good thing . Will post pictures of the booster standoff bracket. There are already some great pictures of one solution in the showcase. Page 3. of the Sport fury section, presented by Stefan Steinmaier of Portugal. I have done this same style of conversi...

Re: 75 Duster Brake Booster

Now continued brake info. We need to discuss the hydralic safety system and the hydraulic system safety switch and the pressure metering valve I.E. proportioning valve. I really love the early systems with their beautiful brass machine finished parts. They also seem to last a really long time if yo...

Re: 75 Duster Brake Booster

OK There is an A Body booster and bracketry much like the 426 hemi booster and master cylinder standoff that very well might be a direct bolt on. I have a new old stock one here that I was going to use to convert my Challenger to power disc brakes. I am still deciding, The Challenger stops great wi...

Re: 75 Duster Brake Booster

The 1975 A Body non-power master cylinder is a good disc brake changeover to use in a non-power system . I have not heard about using the booster, There are other boosters but all require a complete changeover. In addition you will need the proportioning manifold adjustable rear brake hold off valv...

John , I would have stiched you up but I think you want the arm to work. and in reference to the seamstress and seamster ordeal, the first entry to this section of the forum is correct. Automotive people are trimmers. If you want to double the price of your interior job refer to them as seamstresse...
