Rob Augliera's Savoy for sale
Rob Augliera's Savoy for sale
This is one sweet Savoy, for those of us who saw it close up and personal.

Subject: 59' Plymouth for sale
Hi Dan,
Not sure if you remember Rob or Sal Augliera from Carlisle. Rob (my father) had the cream 59' Savoy 4-door with the copper colored top. We are trying to sell the car, and wondering if you could help us with that. We have not used the car much since Carlisle a couple years ago, and are in the middle of some other projects and need some money. Is there any way you can help? Let me know what you think.
Hope all is well with you and the club.
Thank you,
Sal Augliera

Dunno... He's asking me what it's worth. What should I tell him?

Re: Rob Augliera's Savoy for sale
I was at a swap meet the other day and there was an air cleaner there that he said was for a 1959 Plymouth. I said I had never seen an air cleaner like it on a '59 Plymouth. It had the oblong shaped snorkel that is shown on this 6 cylinder. Since most of what we see are 8 cylinder restored cars I was unfamilar with it. I have one question resulting from the relatively large size of the carburetor opening. Was this 6 cylinder equipped with a single barrel or two barrel carburetor? Probably a dumb question but I know someone will politely excuse my ignorance and answer. Thanks. Ken
Re: Rob Augliera's Savoy for sale
Mines a 6 cylinder, but i can't help you with that question as mine doesn't have that style air cleaner, mine was built in Canada so that particular air cleaner may have only been used on U.S. made models, but i can tell you that the carbs were indeed a one barrel and not two!

It's a nice clean looking all original car, which only seems to appeal to a small segment of car guys nowadays, i think 12 grand would be a reasonable asking price.Faulkner wrote:Dunno... He's asking me what it's worth. What should I tell him?

I believe I've seen these air cleaners on 8 cyl one-barrel carb station wagons.

8 cylinder 1 barrel? They actually made something like that?rogerh wrote:I believe I've seen these air cleaners on 8 cyl one-barrel carb station wagons.

Thanks for the correction, Bob!
The one-barrels were for the straight Sixes.
The V-8s had, at a minimum, two-barrel carburetion.

Those are easily changed, what do you think a good asking price would be Matthew?Matthew Keij wrote:This one isn't worth a lot with those 57 hubcaps

For this one?
It's a nice car but it's still a savoy and a 6 cilinder. I'd say $7000 to $8000.
For a little bit more you can get a V8 1959 Plymouth.

I guess you're right, here's what the NADA guide says about this, i used my friend in Indianas ZIP code to do the calculation.
