POWER STEERING PUMP LEAK.

Post by Dick Koch »

Roger - Did you ever get that pump to stop leaking? Greenie had a fericous leak and no amount of Lucas stop leak would help. I got a seal kit from ebay and did it myself. It's an easy fix, it was leaking around the canister (large O ring). I took it apart cleaned it up and replaced that large o ring and walla, no more leak. NAPA should also have that kit.

That IS encouraging! I am not quite sure at this moment where it leaks from,,,just that there is always fluid on the garage floor. You make the big "O" ring replacement sound easy!

I replaced mine a few years back. Tried buying one at local parts stores - no luck. One guy suggested a local plumbing store. Good suggestion - Got one for $1. Should have bought a few extras.

Advance Auto sells the rebuild kits for the early Federal pumps.
