B Body 8 3/4 rear question

Post by Faulkner »

This is an interesting technical question that was posted elsewhere on the Forum, so I'm posting it again here.
Hi Ralph. When you swapped in the (B Body) 8 3/4 rear, did you need to change wheels/tires for clearance or was there no issue?

The axle change should be okay, the self energizing rear brakes will be needed with the small front disc brake system. The B body rear axle, years 62-70 is only about two inches narrower track. The stock tires and wheels will work fine. Engineering the E-brake cable system will be fun. Rick

Thanks Rick. My car came with odd size rims (5,5,5.5,6). Wanted to purchase 14x6's all the way around, and clean up the one existing 14x6 as a spare. Swapping to the 8 3/4 and just wanted to make sure.
