Dash plate and radio

Post by Nighthawk »

Guys i need your help here........
My 59 Plymouth never did have a radio in it but thru the miracle of ebay i acquired the original radio and dash trim plate with the radio cut out in it.
I have to change my existing dash trim and install the one i got for the radio installation,so i need to know, how does the trim plate come off and how do you remove the wiper switch?
I have the 59 service manual but it doesnt show how to do this, any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The trim plate is held on at the top and bottom with screws. The screws at the bottom are looking at you, but the ones on the top are covered by the stainless trim that holds down the bottom of the dash pad. You will need to remove the stainless strip. It is held on by spring clips. Sometimes you have to get to the tip of the clips from behind the dash and push them out if they wont pull with the strip. Be careful not to damage the strip.
The wiper switch knob is secured with an allen set screw and the piece under the knob screws off releasing the switch. Good luck, Tom
